I got a copy of 'Trout From The Hills' based on your texts above, and I am also enjoying it.
Someone else on You Tube seems to like Snowdonia fishing. I followed a link form Daves Italian casting maestro and came across Stevesnaps1 who posted this on fishing small streams in Snowdonia:
and , even more appropriately, I have now seen, this:
Apologies, I not yet sure how to embed these. However, the links work!
P.S. Well, I thought the lake seemed appropriate, but somehow, stocked rainbows and a busy nearby road doesn't cut it!

Morning DBL. I edited your post to show the Utube videos. It's very easy to insert these, all you need to do is first open the video in Utube then use the drop down menus to copy the link, then back into your forum post. At the top you will see a row of icons, click on the one that looks like a clapper board and paste the Utube link. OK this and the video will appear in your post.

I got hold of a copy of Carr and Lister's, long out of print, The Mountains of Snowdonia. (2nd edition 1948). Its mostly of interest to geologists and mountaineers, but it has a brief chapter on angling in Snowdonia's rivers and lakes, although I don't know how much was updated from the much earlier first edition. The mountaineering authors think anglers are bonkers so the chapter was farmed out, but seems very well researched. I've copied and pdf'd the relevant pages. I'll try, I'm not sure if I can upload them here, but I think I can send anyone a copy to anyone who is interested. Just PM me with your e-mail address.

I'm considering a Tenkara trip up to Llyn Dulyn this summer - does anybody have any experience of this water, do you think it would be suitable? Any comments/advice welcome, also , if anybody fancies coming along they would be more than welcome.

Hi Steve, last year I fished Cwm Silyn which teemed with small trout. My guide friend told me about Dulyn in the next valley which has larger fish. There is also a stream out which my friend said could be ok for Tenkara. Further to this, via google earth, I checked it out and my friend said it was very small but did have small fish. It's a hell of a climb and I personally wouldn't think it suitable. I can let you have my friends number if you want to chat - he's a Snowdonia guide so may know better places.

Thanks Louis,
If the climb to Dulyn is too arduous I am happy to consider other possibilities - do you have any other suggestions? If not I am more than happy to pick your friends brains!

Louis,
It appears that there is more than one Dulyn - John is not familiar with the one I have in mind ( I believe about a two hour hike up the mountains above Tal-Y-Bont, at about 2000 feet - OS map107)I understand that there is a Bothy should the weather turn bad!
I am keen to have a go up there this summer - there is I am told a stream from the lake that may be suitable for Tenkara also.

Hi Steve, presume this is the one beyond Llyn Bodlyn. Sounds a hell of a hike, what info' do you have on it.
I wonder what Afon Ysgethin is like, running to Talybont.
Look forward to discussing at Corwen.
Cheers,

On our visit to the Ogwen last week (see 'Snowdonia and beyond...'), we saw a small Llyn called 'Ffynnon Lloer' marked on the association's map. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to find it, but the information on the web site sounds promising. Does anyone know anything more about it? Could be an interesting trip! www.pysgotaogwenfishing.org/The%20Fishing.html

Dyfan,
As there seems to be only you and I interested in Dulyn I wonder if we might drum up a little more interest in a trip to Ffynnon Lloer as it appears to be a little more accessible?
