Mark We had Dominic as a guest at our fly tying club some weeks ago and he was very good. I bought his Coarse fish on the fly book which is good. Strikes me that Tenkara would be fine for lots of the coarse species and good fun too. Better than sitting around waiting in vain for rivers to drop! Glyn

Well river just into flood level(bottom end) and ezine eat sleep& fish only partly satiating. Limit to 1or 2 articles to make it last! Got out for couple of hours. Enchanted again with casting tiny weighted nymph. Field master is ideal. No fish but good to be out! Spatters of rain as I packed to go home for cuppa & ginger biscuits!

Mark You are lucky to be able to get on the river. It is a real mess up here with no chance at all. Cabin fever setting in big time! When will the tide go out I wonder? Glyn

Confidence & competence After trying without success to track down the"Scarlett pimpernel of Devon fly fishing, we met on the tone and although not fishable gained a great selection of his and his polish mates nymphs. He is now in the Southern Hemisphere no doubt catching with his usual ease. Since the river has been high mighty dirty and windy. Today was probably the most important day in my short career ! I waded alone, albeit with life jacket and one of my dads handmade sticks. I didn't fall though I had a couple of scary stumbles! The icing on the cake was two grayling to after blanking for more days than I care to remember ! Is it confidence or competence? I don't really care ! Just know I'm smiling & so is my dad up or down there.

One of those days! Been realising through Paul & Johns e book and the add ons that I have been " dabbling " in Tenkara . Took out my oni one rod with a JP kebari. Out of frustration finally put on light copper head nymph. Still nothing! At last pool b4 work a fish was rising! Put kebari back on & missed four takes! In my fishing jacket the alarm was buzzing for work. Finally a fish took the kebari: a decent out of season grayling ! A very special fish!
