I received a furled tapered leader from Caimore Direct this morning that I'll be testing soon and comparing against my own DIY leaders. The leader is 10' and is graded as 20lb (?), it looks very well made and should (I imagine) perform well. What I really want to see is how good my own leaders are compared to those that are commercially available. These furled leaders are available from the Caimore Direct website for £3.99 but they also list on ebay at times. I'll be sure to let you guys know how I find the leader.

Continuing my experiments with mono furles I found that after a day on the slide winder the leader was badly kinked. I stopped in at my local tackle dealer this morning to buy some Tronix Pro rig winders, these are made from foam and store the mono furles well. I used an apple corer to punch a whole in the winder so I can pop it onto the rod, hopefully this will be a better solution for the mono leaders and cause less memory issues. For the silk leaders I'll stick with the slide winders as they don't carry the memory. I've also made a new level leader using 4lb copolymer so that'll be on test next time out.

I managed to furl a 10.5' knot-less line today, I think I'll maybe fish it tomorrow if the weather holds out. I don't think the wind is to be as strong as today so fingers crossed. It should be interesting to see if the knot makes much difference when compared to this knot-less line.
The furl is made of 4ply 4lb copolymer and it's a little thinner than the level lines I was gifted by forum members. It's finished either end with a perfection loop and attached to that is orange braid as photographed with the other furls I've made. The line definitely looks much nicer without the knot but only testing will tell if it fishes any better.
