i recently posted this on facebook and thought i'd share it here as well...
while retrieving a fly from a semi-submerged branch, my hemos (with my nippers attached to them) unclamped from my sling and went into the drink. the way the water was coming through the rocks and the glare, there was no way for me to see them. i tried reaching in, but the water was above hip deep. Jeff Smith was fishing just upstream and i hollered to him thinking he might have an idea on how to get me out of the jam (jeff is smart). sure enough, ol' jeff had a great idea: look under the water with my camera!
after two tries, i did not see anything and almost gave up, but then i tried again, closer to the rock i'm sitting on in the pic, and there they were. i took off all my gear and stepped in, but even bending down the hemos were too deep to reach without going all the way under. had it been at the end of the day, i'd have gone for it, but we were just starting out. what y'all are seeing in the pick is me putting my right sock, wading sock, and boot back on. monkey-foot grab to the rescue!
thank you jeff, thank you technology, and thank you me for always picking junk up with me feet.
