Hi, guys. Am new to all this but having fun learning. We have a lake with 3 to 5-lb carp nearby (in Utah) and as soon as the ice is off and the weather warms, I plan to try my Tenkara rod out. Any suggestions for netting carp - I'll be wading in ca. 2 ft deep water. Tenkara is great and I enjoy all your comments and notes.

Hi anasazi carp fight like fury especially a 5lb one! Are you sure about using a tenkara rod? When I have fished for them I have used rod and reel to let them run as they can really tear off.

Thanks, paulto, for your info. You are undoubtedly right - I have caught 5-lb carp on a 4-weight fly rod and on a handline but the tenkara tip is probably much too limber. Guess I'll use a telescoping crappie rod I have with a tip 4 to 5 times stronger. Don't know yet how I will handle the first run of the fish but at least I won't break my new tenkara rod. Am sure eager to go out - hope our snow here in Utah melts SOON !!
