Hello everyone, My Name is Lee and I have never fly fished in my life, I tried to cast a fly rod once and sucked at it. However I just sort of heard of Tenkara fishing through looking at lure fishing sites (which I am in to) and it raised my curiosity enough to find out a little more. I live in South Snowdonia (Harlech) and have the Glaslyn, Dwyryd, and Artro pretty near by, also Llyn Techyn, Llyn Ddu, Llyn Hywell etc. Ashamedly I have never fished them and thought I may bring two new experiences together. I am not yet fully ready to commit but I am here to read, ask questions, see if there are real advantages over regular fly fishing or even lures before I take the plunge. I wouldn't have a clue about kit choices, flies or anything really so I may ask some dumb questions and irritate a bit

Hello Lee and welcome - you certainly live in a good Tenkara area.
I can promise you that you'll pick it up with no problem and never look at a lure again in the same way.
Through this forum you'll find all the info' you need, and the tackle won't cost a fortune.
I long to fish the rivers in your area !
Good luck.

Lee As an ex North-Walian I can tell you that you live in a great area for all sorts of fishing and as Louis said to you loads of good Tenkara water. The upper Dee is superb. You have a number of people on the forum who are close to you and all would be glad to help you I am sure. Good luck on your journey Glyn

Hello Lee welcome, living in Harlech it would be a crime if you don't take up fishing. I can highly recommend tenkara. I've fished all different methods for over 40yrs I've found tenkara by far the most enjoyable.

Welcome Lee. I'm sure that you'll soon get the hang of Tenkara, particularly with the help of other forum members in your area. It's far easier to get going with than conventional fly fishing.
All the best Dave

Welcome to the forum. Lots of great advise on here for Tenkara on your local waters. Conventional fly tackle feels heavy and clunky compared to the very light Tenkara tackle.
Cheers
Daniel.

Hello Lee, I have fished all my life but unfortunately I was late coming to fly fishing. I wish I had taken it up sooner. I love it. Then came Tenkara. Doubled my fishing joy I can tell you. I am sure you will learn a lot from the experienced forum members and I am sure you will soon be an accomplished Tenkara practitioner. Good Luck.
