While watching a u tube tenkara video i came across a douglass cameron post where he uses a button and a elastic band to make a clip for storing line.I thought it was a very good and inexpensive alternative.I HAVE Put the video on my face book page just put martin williams in the search bar and you should see my forum picture 8-)martfish

This is a good idea looks better than ez keepers I gave them another go recently in the reverse position like Daves suggested. I found they worked better this way but I still don't like them. I've started to using cable ties I like them because they're streamlined, don't slip and very cheap.

It looks to be a very simple yet solid gadget and unlikely to slip or fall off as ezee keepers can do. Thanks for sharing this. Glyn

Some pics of cable ties used as line holders. They're easy to take off if you don't like them. I find they hold the line really well as they don't slip also the line comes off them quickly. I bought a back of 100 for £2. If you use furled lines you may need a slightly bigger cable tie than the one pictured.

I tried the cable ties as I had some anyway. It works but the buttons works best for me. Your less likely to miss as you wrap, and, if you are brave, you can pull off the whole line / tippet in one go and hope it unravels nicely. It's going to work for furled/braided leaders too.
Is it no coincidence this brilliant idea came from a Scot?
