I live in Formby Merseyside not far from the River Alt!! That's why I have to travel to the Hodder & Ribble for some good water. I also cast a line on the Wyre at Garstang. Favourite river is the Hodder. Lovely surroundings. Someone once said, Trout only live in lovely places (generally). How right they were. Springerman

Should mention that I have found the forum very useful. As a beginner with Tenkara I have found it a great source of information from like minded people. Thanks to all those that have given such help and advice. Springerman.

I mentioned I fished the Wyre at Garstang. It was there in May that I met Mike Roden's partner in Tenkara Centre UK. I watched him trying out a new rod. He let me have a few casts but I had some difficulties with it. I had read about Tenkara but couldn't understand all the implications. Having seen it I could see the benefits, especially for dry fly fishing. As a result I went to the Fawcett's casting day that very Sundayat Kirkby Lonsdale. Mike Roden was there demonstrating Tenkara fishing. I think I was his first "pupil" of the day. I was so impressed I bought a rod that same week. So you can blame Mike Roden for all this. Check out Mike's new videos on Tenkara fishing on YouTube. (16/6/2013). Many thanks Mike. Springerman.

Hi Springerman, Welcome to forum; I just wondered if you'd ever heard of/seen a trout anywhere on the Alt? The reason that I ask is that there is a guy I know who is trying to catch a trout from every English county and he is having real trouble with Merseyside.... Feel free to PM if more appropriate than general forum
