880 metres of single bank fishing. Runs riffles& pools on mainly small stone beds. Outcrops of slippery hark (volcanic?) rock. Very slippery in waist waders with rubber soles. Heron and kingfisher spotted much to the chagrin of smashing owner who has tried for 3years to see it! He even offered to make me a brew! He has two beautiful s/c cottages for let. Excellent base for fishing West Country passport scheme.

Fished upper Culm passport beat yesterday. Started with breakfast turnover. Bacon egg &sausage in flaky pastry + cappacino! Just enough time to "work" lower half of the beat. No rises, fished both dry & nymph. Payed my dues to Tree Gods for the season. Splendid to be on the river, made 5 hours on retail checkout bearable!
