I mentioned some time ago that I would add a couple of pictures from my recent trip to the USA where I fished Tenkara in several streams. The fish is a decent brook trout that I had on Tenkara on a Partridge and Yellow one evening on the North Branch of the Au Sable river. This was one item on my 'wish list' of fishing things to achieve whilst on holiday. Brookies are such beautiful trout and the leading edges to the fins can be seen easily. The mosquitos were more than troublesome and a trip at any time necessitated serious preventative measures. I was returning from a Tenkara trip on the Manistee river one afternoon here and despite measures was bitten through my clothes! They are evil buggers believe me. Another ticked off on my wish list was to catch a largemouth bass on fly and here is a shot of that event. I did manage around 25 fish in the 2 - 4 lbs range on a surface fly and they are really good fun whatever anyone tells you. There are plenty of streams in Michigan and access is good although the locals are happier to 'float' the bigger rivers in boats. I saw some great headwaters which are apparantly untouched as they are not deemed worthy of attention - they looked great for Tenkara believe me. Many of the anglers I encountered had heard of Tenkara but only one I met had actually fished it. One chap bought an outfit whilst I was there and after some tuition by telephone caught some bass on the outfit!! Best wishes Glyn
