Hi,
i am Ronald from Germany. Since the end of year 2008 I am an avid tenkara fisher. In the first time it was quite complicated to get information about tenkara fishing or to get the right equipement. Thank god this is much better now. Tamo building and furling horsehairlines are special parts in which I am very interested as well. The interest in Germany in tenkara is quite slow. Most of the flyfisher which I meet or to which I talk are very reserved. They often tell me Tenkara is not flyfishing, they think it is pole fishing. Still aA lot of missionary work to do.
Best regards Ronald

Hi Ronald, glad to have you on board Even though there is quite a lot of interest in tenkara in the UK, it is still true that most people you meet here think that it is either pole fishing or dapping. Missionary work is exactly the right phrase! Paul

Welcome to the forum Ronald. I know how you feel... it can definitely feel like missionary work in the face of some of the more closed minded flyfishers If your interested in tamo building have a look at THIS THREAD for some exquisite tamos made by Seth Leach. Keep the faith... tenkara is here to stay!

Welcome Ronald, which part of Germany are you from and what type of fish do you target trout or coarse fish? Horsehair lines are really easy to make and cast very well especially when the line is wet, I can recommend the Tenkarabum instructions they come with a good quality Hank of horse hair.

It's good that you have posted here Ronald. Did you have good fishing on your trip to the south of England a couple of summers ago? I replied to you query on the TUSA forum.
Chris.
