Well the season has finally started on the Isle of Man. I had a day out on opening day on the 1st and pulled a single fish. The water is very cold here with most of it coming from snow melt. Not a single fish moved from my feet as I made my way up through some new water. The only little one came from a deep pool which is where I imagine they are hiding. Until the weather warms up I can't see them getting much more active. Still I have new rods being tested and I'm casting a lot. All is looking good for the season ahead. So here's a glimpse of some of the new water I'm playing with: There is plenty more and even better looking pools. I'll keep those for later reports.

I use my Eso-Tenkara 360cm 6:4. The tree cover is not too bad and I had no problem casting. There is some winter debris to clear with a saw, but nothing serious. There are more open stretches round the Island where a 410cm can be used but the 360cm works well.

It's a bout time I revisited these waters to see if there were any fish in them. Good news! They are stuffed with fine fish up to 10 inches. From this one pool: I took half a dozen fine fish much like this chap:

Lovely fish, well done. I don't recognize the pool, you on the Silverburn still or floating around? Glad you finally managed to get out again. I landed 12-13 on the Laxey on Saturday and missed probably twice that many. It was a pretty good day with most fish running 4"-8", none hitting the 10" mark Saturday.

It is indeed the Silverburn, above Silverdale.
