Sorry if this is a bit late. trout will have finished and there are no Grayling west of Tamar. There is late salmon on Fowey + other Cornish streams. Try West country river trust for any info.

I have been walking the River Hayle this morning, approx. 500 metres up from the saltwater barrier and have seen a number of small shoals of fish of 6 - 10 inches in length. I intend to fish this stretch from the Hayle Estuary barrier to St Erth later this month. The river is 10 - 12 miles in length and is more of a brook than a river. Has anyone else fished this small river ?

Hi Landsurfer.
I fished around the estuary barrier some years ago whilst on holiday. A local told me that bass could be caught, so i had a try one evening and managed to hook a huge seagull on a rapala super shadrap.(great fight) I dont remember seeing anything in the river other than mullet though mate.It would be nice to think that sea trout were giving this little river a run.
Regards Stevie.

Walked the Truro River up stream from the railway viaduct in the city on Saturday. I was very suprised at he number of wild brown trout in the pools and among the weeds. I walked about a mile upstream and the water quality looked very good indeed, clear with a gravel bottom in most places with some very deep pools. Has anyone fished this brook?
