My new DVD has just arrived from the USA, along with 3 flies being one of the first to order! Will hope to see it over the weekend and then I'll write a review on this thread.

I have just finished watching tying Tenkara flies Vol 1. The DVD is well produced and a very good introduction on how to tie the various styles of fly. However if you have any experience of fly tying you will not learn much from this video, it is aimed at the beginner in my opinion, but it is still a very good reference and being Vol 1 I guess there is going to be a Vol 2? Would I buy the next one that would depend on what was on the DVD as most of the traditional Tenkara flies are on the first.

I really enjoyed the DVD not being the best at fly tying (although I've been doing it a long time) I did pick up a few new tips, particularly a different way to tie the Stewarts Black Spider which makes it really easy. This being one of my all time favourite flies made it worth buying the DVD for me.
Apparently the alternative black spider instructions are on the Tenkara Bum web site but I couldn't find it. maybe Chris will post the link.

The alternative black spider instructions are on this page: www.tenkarabum.com/stewart-spider.html I just describe them as an alternative (between steps 4 and 5) without accompanying photos because that is not the way I generally tie them myself. It is easier and if anything, makes a neater looking fly, though. By the way, I also carry the DVD on TenkaraBum www.tenkarabum.com/tying-tenkara-flies-dvd.html Edited to remove sentence-ending period from link. Link should work now.

I can't get the link to work? The alternative way does make a neater fly, maybe this is a bad thing. I haven't tried the new version yet.

I'll back you up on this one Paul. Most of the above have been tied with CDC bodies. The two on the top right more or less the same fly as described. Easy to tie & one of the most effective trout takers out there. I never leave home without a few! Stevie.
