First crack at the reverse style hackle. Must admit to giving this style of hackle a few bare hook dry runs first to get the feel. The body is brown tying thread with a few turns of natural peacock hurl behind the partridge hackle & a little nip of crystal flash to spice things up. Second attempt. Used a longer hackle & one more turn. Again the body is brown tying thread but this time with a gold rib & black peacock hurl behind the partridge hackle. Now I've gone and spoiled it! Back to the bead obesession! Tied for a bit fun really, i'll give it a chuck & see how it fishes. I Really enjoyed tying the above flies but i think the vice could do with a touch of wire wool. Regards Stevie.

They look great!... and you can see the rust properly now. I like a little twinkle in the tail myself and as for beads. I'm all for them. Traditionally I think they didn't have beads simply because beads were not available. I bet they'd of used them if they could!

Good stuff Stevie,
Apparently beads were used on Italian flies many many years ago, nothing new 'eh !

Thanks fella's.
Alex.
I've tied them on a size 14 B175 kamasan.
How did i get on with them you ask ?. Well i blanked this evening with them on the Derwent. I was really looking forward to hooking into a fish or two with them but i didnt even get what i could call a take! Not to worry though it was the same story for the jig hooks too & my usual killer fly set up, so it looks like the River Derwent trout & Grayling gods aint happy with me for some reason?
Regards Stevie.

The flies look really good! Remember flies are designed to catch fish not the angler, our rivers are still high here and there was rain agin last night.
