Looks like the tying mojo is coming back. Thought I'd start off with a simple goldhead PTN on a size 12 jig hook with 3.8mm bead. I've added a few turns of peacock hurl just behind the bead & a couple of strands of crystal flash to the tail, its a combination that has worked well for me with the Derwent fish for years with a kamasan B175. If you look closely you,ll see rust on the vice. Its been in the garage & hasn't had a fly in its jaws for years. Very sad! I shall warm the fingers up again later & have a crack at these reverse hackle style flies. Apology for the out of focus shot, photo skills are alittle rusty too! Regards Stevie

Looks like a beauty! ... Now all we need is a fishing report of you catching with it.

stevie, I can see that you haven't lost your touch...it looks very competently tied indeed....and will catch you a lot of fish...I might just tie a few of that pattern up myself as I still have some jig hooks left in my fly box ....if you saw the efforts I tied and use you would lol....anyway I've caught some fish on them so they can't be that bad ....my magnifying glass has arrived so hopefully the quality on my fly tying will improve as time goes on.... as the song goes 'things can only get better' tight lines Alex

Thanks fellas.
It'll more than likely fall to bits on the first cast & i'll be left with a bare hook & bead.
I did tie alot up until around ten years ago then for some reason i lost interest.
I guess its like riding a bike, You never forget.
Stevie.

It's this Tenkara thing.... it seems to light a fire under a person and get them out fishing and tying fresh flies.

Strange you should say that Cust.
I have Kevin C Kelleher's book on Tenkara & i have just been reading the introduction. In it he uses these words. "It has allowed the little kid in me to come out and play again"
What a wonderful quote & i cant help but feel how right that sounds.
Regards Stevie.

Nice fly Stevie - I make a lot of nymphs for a bloke who insists on the crystal in the tail, so I do that also with mine now.
Tight lines, !

I've got millions of pounds worth of fly tying **** at home in a box. Unused for over a year. I really must try and make some use of the investment.
River flies are great to look at and usually easier to knock out being so simple. Nymphs I reckon I could still manage. Dries??? Confidence shot to bits, maybe an F-Fly perhaps.
I used to be able to do a decent Klink but after listening to too much advice lost it completely! My statement to you all is never, ever, ever listen to anybody else's method once you can do a Klink your way. It's suicide! ;D

Ay dont knock yourself Whistlekiller. A decent klink you say?
I tied a fly i called, The Disposable Klinkhammer.
What a brilliant fly is was too. You cast it out & hook a fish then the fly would drop to bits on the next cast & you'd have to tie on a new fly whilst fish topped all around you. I didnt use this fly for long though as you can imagine.
Regards Stevie.
