The Gosen hooks come in pairs, so here's a fly tied as a pair.

That looks a right catcher but I have to ask, what is the idea behind the double hook? Is it just for weight because if so, surely a bit of lead underbody would make for a better arrangement particularly if you're planning to let the fish go?

The hooks come in pairs stuck together. I've no idea why. So I thought I'd see if I could tie a double. These hooks are the finest wire I have ever seen. Even two I reckon would still float as a dry fly. I think having the two together will give the hook more strength for bigger fish and faster play to land and release as quickly as possible.

Cust, I didn't appreciate that they were stuck together as bonded pairs...now that's very unusual...you can't split them into singles Let us know you you get on fishing these doubles By the way...the flies look the part...very nicely tied Alex

Alex... They split into singles very easily Those points are only 1mm apart and I had to insert the scissor blades between them working them hard to achieve even that!
I'll let you know when they catch a fish!
Thanks for the compliment on the tying. I'm getting back into the swing of it again.
