Yes that would be fine. We could meet at the High Force gift shop on Saturday morning to get our tickets and then off to the river.
Chris.

The archery club i'm in have a competition arranged for this Sunday 5th (Derwynd FAC) and am booked for that day. The only day I can make it is the Monday 6th May, if thats ok with you, if you don't fancy the trip in returning BH trafic afterwards, then perhaps we could arrange it for another week end. I believe that this weekend there is a planned meet on the R Dee in north wales.

Hi Chris/Hobgoblin.
Sorry fella's i wont be able to make this weekend.
I've somehow managed to bag 3 weeks off work so im truckin to the kinlochbervie & Riconich Estates in the far north west of Sutherland with a fishin buddy for some remote loch & river wild brownie action. Im going to try my hardest to convert my mate over to "The darkside" with the T rod, just hope the weather keeps good.
Enjoy the weekend. Regards Stevie.

Hobgoblin,
I thought you meant the spring holiday weekend at the end of May(25th-27th), which would suit me better; or one of the subsequent weekends in June perhaps? Stevie and one or two others might be able to make it then.
Chris.

Chris,
That would be better i'm rather tied up this weekend, the only day would be Monday for me. I live 50' about sea level and it's still cold here even in the sun today, but Mrs Oliver's hedge is in full leaf now across the road this usually signals the sign of warmer weather coming.
Keep in touch and we'll see if we can get something off the ground at the end of May.

I'm sorry I can't make it: perhaps some other time.
The shop by the High Force Hotel opens at 10am, and they will ask to see your licence when selling you a ticket. I think on my first visit I would start at Widdy Bank Farm as there is much good water immediately, both up and downstream. The gate on the track leading to it is usually locked so ask for the combination when buying your ticket.
Good luck.
Chris.

Thanks for the tips Chris, I was thinking along the same lines as you.
That makes a refreshing change, asking for your rod licence before selling you a ticket, it should be mandatory practice whenever anyone buys a fishing permit.

Started fishing from Widdy Beck farm around 11am, it was windy, very windy. Large dark olives started hatching around midday. Due to the nature of the conditions the only possible way that i could keep control of my fishing was to fish wet, moving down stream. I caught fish, hooked and lost a few and missed quite a lot. Started with my ESO 410, but the soft tip made controling my fly difficult, so I switched to my 12' Iwana, both with level line and a 3' tippet 2lb maxima. I tried dry fly but nothing doing (an unsinkable klink) most fish came to a black SKB with a red bum, dressing at the end.
I had a really enjoyable day and can see why it's said that 30 fish a day is possible and yes if I get the chance i'll be going again with some of you I hope.
red arse black SKB
hook - tiemeco 103bl - 13 thread and body - black hackle - black hen butt - 3 or 4 turn of red holographic tinsel

I can make any of the first 3 weekends in June. Sundays are best for me, but if we were going to do both days, I could make it around 1500hr on the Saturday and join you lot on the river, then fish all the next day.
Any thoughts !
