Hi cust.
An interesting hook. Never fly fished with a jig hook. Just wondering if it would suit deep heavy nymph fishing close to the bottom, I would imagine it presents its self point up and limits snagging on the river bed? I would appreciate any feed back from members who have experience fishing with these hooks.
Regards Stevie.

Hi Stevie
That is exactly what they do! The fish upside down and have been pretty much a standard hook pattern for the competition river scene for the last few years. It's not quite filtered through to the masses yet.
If you are tying on them then you must use a slot bead. The ordinary counter sung beads do not sit right.
Which bead for which hook?
Size 8 - 5.5mm or 4.6mm slot tungsten bead Size 10 - 4.6mm or 4.0mm slot tungsten bead Size 12 - 3.8mm or 3.5mm slot tungsten bead Size 14 - 3.3mm or 3.0mm slot tungsten bead Size 16 - 2.8mm or 2.5mm slot tungsten bead
The 5.5mm beads are like little cannon balls!!! I can;t recommended them for a Tenkara rod! However in the smaller sizes up to 3.3mm jig hooks can be effectively used on Tenkara tackle.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my hooks Alex. Have you also found with the jigs you bounce on the bottom rather than getting snagged most of the time?
Not my best tying effort. It was very late a night and I can tie neater. too much thread at the head and the thread it showing at the butt as well. It was a size 16 though and I didn't use the magnifier! I couldn't see the gap till the camera picked it up.
I'm sure it'll work great for the brownies. The seagull is brown one side and white the other so you get a dark "frill" as you wrap it. I might try colouring the white with a yellow or a pale olive for some variation.
The picture doesn't pick it up very well but the tail uses some of the white/pale blue/ brown feather tips from a blue jay wing. You can only see the white. The ones we don't usually look at. I'll tie a couple with a black nickel head and see if I can get better definition on the tail.

There are plenty of them about here so picking up feathers is no problem. Here's a shot of the next version which shows the Jay tail better.
