Sunday 1st April did a work party with Mitre Angling club we have 3 each year to move the rubbish accumulated over winter. Decided to fish Tenkara today didn't start too good as nothing happening but a hatch of LDO started and fish started rising, it still amazes me that one minute there is nothing happening and cannot get a bite and the next minute fish start rising. So slipped on the dry a CDC size 14 LDO.and managed to get 4 Trout, one 16ins and one 14ins, the others about 10ins. It can be quite difficult on the Calder early season as it is still cold so any fish is a bonus, if you don't find fish rising not much chance of a fish. , Ian.R

Hi everyone had a day on the Calder at Padiham on Saturday, a good day although the weather was miserable but the Olives hatched all the time I was there from about 10.30am until 15.30pm, and I got fish on mostly dries but a couple on GRHE, I caught on a Black Klinkhammer in the fast water and on a CDC LDO , landed 10fish up to 16 ins but lost more of the hook due to the fact that I didn't check my hook, and it had opened out on a big fish that broke me on .148 Stroft. Still a good Tenkara day .

Hi Stevie no I don't fish those rivers, I fish on the R.Aliyn near Rossett, and The Peover Eye near Knutsford, I have only just joined the Peaover Eye this season so I have not worked out what is happening, where do you fish. Regards Ian.R

Hi Ian,
I mostly fish the Derbyshire Derwent, but over the last few years i've been making every effort to fish other rivers when i can. I love fishing the Tweed, Yarrow & Teviot in the scottish borders. What i have enjoyed since joining the Tenkara forum is reading about all the different rivers that members use. Just wish i'd got the time to give them all a cast or two. Regards Stevie.

Hi Stevie you could come and fish the Calder we are allowed visitors, I don't know where you live, perhaps the drive would be a bit much, even so you are quite welcome to come and have a fish, it's good Tenkara water. Ian. R
