Have been sorting through my gear today and wondering about the best way to carry it.
I would like to ask what everyone else does.
So, how do you carry your kit?
And yes maybe I am looking for an excuse to by a Goertzen lanyard on my credit card!

I am using either one of the Ebiras (see here: www.traillitedesigns.com/tenkaragear.htm ) or some small waist pack or sling pack. Basically anything that doesn't get in the way and holds one or two fly boxes, some tippet, a few lines, nipper and hemostat.

Jason - do you "wear" the SJ as chest pack or over the shoulder?

Hi All,
Ive been using the Fishpond ARROYO CHEST PACK it fits everything in and you have room for a few snacks. Very functional and extremely comfortable to the point that you forget your wearing it. Loads of features and lots of places were you can hang zingers, forceps, etc on the outside.
Overall great functional item ;D

Hi All, My perferred solution at the moment is a Orvis guide lanyard with a fly box in one jacket pocket and a leader wallet in another. If carrying lunch I use a drawstring backpac, £2 from Amazon. In summer I always wear a shirt with 2 decent breast pockets. Cheers Bill

I'm a chest pack person. I picked it up at Bass Pro Shop while on a recent trip to the US with the kids to do the Disney thing. White River - Spring Creek Exactly the right size for me. I carry tippet, flies, floatant, my own tungsten mud degreaser, forceps and nippers.

Hi All, I went through a series of smaller and smaller chest packs until I ended up with the smallest Fishpond, the San Juan, which is a good bit of kit. I am not the slimest guy on the water and I found a chestpack blocked my view of the river bed to some degree. Also with a lanyard it's easy to tuck it inside the top of your waders when deep wading. Cheers Bill

hi hedgechopper, for my tenkara stuff im using a chalk bag...........the ones that rockclimbers use. the one i have at the moment is a wild mountain and cost a £5 from go outdoors. big enough for a fly box,2 spools of tippet, small tub of float doh, license and permits......theres a loop on the side to attach hemos/forceps and it has a drawstring closure so you dont lose your stuff. theres loads of types, designs, colours and sizes t'ont web. i also have a vision chestpack but since getting the chalk bag, ive not used it... for the amount you need for tenkara they are perfect

HI Dave,
I've just had a look at some chalk bags on the go outdoors website they look like they would be ideal. I actually own an unused San Juan pack that I got from the hardy factory shop for £9.99 and I have been wondering whether to unwrap it or put it on ebay. I keep looking at it and thinking that it is bigger than I need for just the tenkara stuff but far too small to carry lunch or a jacket. Up until now I have been using a cheap waist coat and a bag for the non tackle items but it seems like too much. Hence I have been wondering what everyone else uses.

Jason what a great blog and a brilliant review of the San Juan. I'm getting more tempted to take the wraps off the straps of mine and give it a go I could always sell it as second hand later. To everyone else thanks for sharing. There have been some great ideas for kit carry on here.

Here is the Tenkara Guide Sling Pack. tenkaraguides.com/tenkara-packs-by-zimmerbuilt/We designed the pack and it is built by Chris Zimmer. This is a very tenkara specific pack designed by professional tenkara guides. It can carry up to 6 tenkara rods, camelbak water bladder, and enough gear for a single guide to support up to 4 clients on the water. John Tenkara Guides LLC USA
