coppernymph2, Nice flies...I see the goldhead bead has a bit of a dent in it....is that from all the fish that's taken it ;D I never thought of using CDC for the tail..does it give it a nice action under the surface The shrimp looks really good....is it unweighted. A grayling of 47 cm must be quite near the 3 lb mark....now that's what you call a grayling. You should take your camera with you and post some shots of the river you fish and of course the fish that you catch. Keep the posts coming A++++ tight lines Alex

"Underbody:- 6 turns med lead wire." I like shrimp patterns myself but I tend not to tie them with so much leg action as I have found it stops them getting to the bottom before the current sweeps them away. Although I do have some with tungsten scud bodies... they are scary heavy and I can't say I'd want to cast them on a Tenkara rod. The orange hot spot is a great trigger for fish to target.... Nice fly.

Hi custheyder, the shrimp is weighted but I do not fish it on its own , I usually put on a GRHE with a 3mm tungsten bead, so my cast would be :- size 16 GRHE withn3mm tungsten bead on the point and then the shrimp on the first dropper and on the top dropper a pink shrimp leaded the same and same size, or a attractor fly such as a Red Tag, the Red Tag is tied :- size 16 or 18 wet fly hook. Tag:-red wool or Antron or something sparkly. Body:- Black Dubbing. Hackle:- Grizzle Palmered down the body. I will post a photo of this fly soon, I hope this is of some help to you.

Hi leckie the shrimp is weighted but I always fish more than one fly on my cast as in the post I have just done, even though the flies will fish down I have seen Grayling coming from the bottom to take the top dropper, I also like to fish small flies so,I will fish three flies with tungsten beads as small as 18, I think by fishing like this you can fish small flies and get them down as well, by the way I usually fish the flies about 18ins apart.
