Most of the rods appear to be by Nissin, and so are easily obtainable from Japan.

I have looked at the Nissin rods and don't think they are the same. I'm pretty sure they are custom made in China for them, similar to Tenkara USA. I sent an email to the guys at Tenkara France to see if they could respond directly to the forum and clarify the situation. Their website is excellent and it gives members an alternative product to choose from. leckie

Hello,
I am Jean from Tenkara Pyrénées. Thank for inviting us to post on your forum (...and sorry for my poor english).
About our rods and lines : "découverte" série is made in China. It is a strong rod that we wanted to sell at low price for fishing schools or for the unlucky guys (and girls) that cannot go fishing very often. Very good also for Nymph fishing. "exploration" and "aventure" séries are mid range and premium Tenkara rods, tested and developped with local fishing guides and 100% made in Japan (engineering, production) by our partner Uzaki Nissin. Those rods are very light and powerfull also.
I will check on the forum in the coming days if you have more questions.
I can also help if some of you want good advices to go Tenkara fishing in the Pyrénées. We have, overhere, many very nice mountain streams full of (small) brown trouts and also bigger rivers with good surprises ... and of course good wine and food etc ... but this is another story ! A bientôt Jean

I'm delighted that someone is retailing good Japanese tenkara rods in the EU. I posted the comment above because ''jasonklass'' said you would not ship to the USA.
Chris.

Jean, Thanks for such a prompt reply....appreciate it. Can you advise how much your standard delivery charge to the UK is for large items such as rods and small items such as lines etc. Also for clarification do you ship to the USA for our tenkara friends over the pond. I've looked at the video clips of your fishing excursions in the Pyrenees (many times) and the rivers and streams you have over there look absolutely fantastic....perfect for tenkara fishing. leckie

Hello, 16,9 € for uk large item delivery (French post "Collissimo Recommandé) 3 € for uk for each small item. Very sorry for no forwarding to the States but we have small stocks and local market is big enough for us. Please have a look to our last video www.tenkara.fr/vidéos/Jean

Jean, Thanks for clarifying this. Is the latest video the one with you catching the large brown trout....nice one. Incidentally the rod that you advertise as a 5:5 is described in the specification listing as a 6:4..you might want to look at this and correct...just a typo I guess. leckie

Thanks Leckie, you are right, action is 5:5 for this rod ! (... even if, as tip diametre is a little bigger than other rods, it would be more "in between 5:5 and 6:4"). Anyway, We have made typo correction on our website. Thank you again and sorry for this mistake!
