I'd missed this on Tenkara USA website. I was looking at buying a shorter rod when I spotted this. For those with original Iwana's etc you can buy a replacemnet handle for $40 approx £25 which will convert your rod from 12'-0" or 11'-0" to a 9'-4" rod. Sounds great to me, fish the open with the long rod then the bushes with the short rod. You'll need a rod holder to hold the loose section, but they are easy to make, see Simons. Bill

springwell, When I fish rivers with my 12' Iwana or 12' Yamame I regularly collapse one or two segments and fish okay up with the rod as small as 8' which I guess would be good for streams. I intend to fish more small streams this season so I'll keep this recommendation in mind if I encounter any problems fishing with a semi collapsed rod. leckie

Leckie, How do you stop the sections from sliding out I've tried this method, it didn't feel right, balance etc. Bill

springwell, Unbelievably the sections do not slide out. I thought they would but no not mine. A collapsed rod won't have the same balance as a short though.. I would agree with that. leckie
