After a summer of very low water, a disappointing trip( only in terms of fishing!)to the Vendee, much rain has at last brought the Tone up to seasonal level. Brief couple of hours nymphing, one quite decent grayling. Happy to be “ in the swim again!”

A bitter sweet trip today. Best WBT for many a trip on first T rod the Masu. Changing lines I snapped the top section just below the Lilian . This means the end of the rod as there are no spares! Remembering Mike who started me on my T journey! Pleased his rod went west after a very decent trout! Anyone with use for what remains pm me M

What a weekend! After all the rain, brexit crap and staff shortages at work. Breakfast with Gus, then some of the best rugby I have ever seen! A flu jab that I didn’t feel the supper with hils, Chilean red & strictly. Sunday( extra hour in bed !) bright chilly start . Sorry to see wales out and can we give RSA the run around next week? RSA. are big hopefully we are fitter! Then fishing a swollen Tone, brown but not oxtail, the biggest wild brown trout of my time fly fishing here. No photograph as out of season by a month & quickly returned for another day! Mac cheese for supper!

Sadly not. After our last visit our “friend” turned against us with a a quite unbelievable vitriol. Can’t begin to understand . However we have picked ourselves up& started a new business here in Somerset of providing care in people’s homes: hils is the Carer , I’m the driver and back office boy! Awaiting a new Tenkara rod from USA . Will do a review when arrived and tested!
