Evening All,
I'm seeking advice on a starter Tenkara Rod and line setup (basic) for my local brook, the Rea Brook in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, West Midlands.
I've been looking at the Estoric Tackle zoom rod, which is ideal.
However, it's just the line & tippet i could do with some advice with, nothing complicated and easy to understand.
I appreciate everyone's time and help within responce, It's greatly appreciated.
Warmest Regards
Tom.

Hello Tom, welcome to the forum. Daniel at Esoteric Tackle has fluorocarbon lines ready made from Yamatoyo level line. I think this particular make is very good. If you are buying a rod from him I am sure he will be only too happy to help and advise. Good Luck with your tenkara. Great way to fish. Have a look through the site, there is so much information. Louis Noble has one of Daniels zoom rods. He did a review which is on the Esoteric site. I know he likes the rod. Regards, Ian.

Level leaders are good but you might want to try a furled leader. You can get these from Wye Tenkara just google it.
I hope you enjoy your tenkara experience. Where will you be fishing?
Have fun
Richard

Furled lines are easier to cast but if you learn to cast a level line properly you will catch more fish.
Good luck Paul

Hi Tom, I agree that a level fluoro line is best, having tried them all. I used the yamatoyo (which is green/yellow) for a long time but moved onto the orange (from Esoteric) which is more visible - I suggest you buy a spool from Daniel at Esoteric in # 3.5 weight. By the way, this rating is nothing to do with aftm rod /line ratings. It's good to have a spool as you'll be wanting lines in different lengths.
On another point, I find that a small tippet ring is good between line and tippet, 2mm max with 1.5mm better.
Good luck.
