Hi, I've just bought my sons and myself a tenkara rod each. We've never fished before but I'm going to start a tradition! I'm looking forward to picking up info here. I've done some research and I think we'll be ok but can I ask a couple of rookie questions please - we'll get licenses but are there any laws that I should be aware of, do we need permissions and where do I get them (River Hull and if we're ever camping somewhere) and any other possible problems that inexperienced fishing could bring??? Many thanks in advance. Chris.

Hi Chris welcome to the forum.
You generally need a rod licence from the environment agency and also permission from the person who holds the fishing rights. This will usually be a permit to fish. You cannot just come to a river and start to fish even if you hold a rod licence.
I would suggest to try and find an instructor who will help you to get started and also suggest suitable places to fish.
sorry for the heavy advice.
Richard

Hello Chris, Welcome. Richard is spot on with his advice. Have a look at the Discover Tenkara site. They have free tutorials. Since you have not fished before the information they provide will be of great benefit. I know that it will appear strange at first, that is some of the techniques, but the advice and guidance is first class. Good Luck.
