Hello all.I have had some good catches with my Sato i bought recently. But i am still trying to figure out a leader system that works for me.The problem i find is i fish mainly streams where you encounter lots of tight spots through the day.One leader length through the day doesn't work for me.I am trying to figure out how best to tackle this. The way i see it i can have different length leaders or make little extension sections that can be incorporated or subtracted using loop to loop.I have just purchased fluorocarbon level line 4,3.5 & 3 sizes. But it's got more complicated because if you get 3 & 3.5 level line mixed up it's hard to tell which is which.I have a cheap digital caliper but it's not accurate enough.I am starting to think its best to just have different length leaders on different spools & just change the whole leader. What's other people doing in these situations (any tips welcome) On another note.I just bought some Payette Paste for when i need to float the tip of my line.Is it safe to keep it in the original container.Does it melt & leak from the container in hot days like mucilin does.Cheers All

Hello Rabmax, I carry a number of lines on spools oni spools are good but esoteric tackle have a really good alternative at a fraction of the price. I label the spool with the line weight and length and use a braided loop on all my level lines so I can attach them quickly with a girth hitch or whatever you call the knot. I also mark the braided attachment loop with a permanent marker pen 3 black dots 3# weight line etc. I also add a dot for line length, with me 1 red dot means short line.
I tried a loop systems so I could add various lengths of line but they never seem to cast as well and the joins pick up weed etc. If you connect all lines with a girth hitch it's really quick to change a whole line over.

That's great guys. The braided loop idea sounds good & i already have some spools from esteric tackle.Cheers all

The easiest way to make sure you do not confuse lines of different diameters is to buy each size in a different color. Fluorocarbon tenkara lines are available in chartreuse, pink and at least two different shades of orange. That covers sizes 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4.
Early on I also tried the loop to loop extensions but soon decided life was too short (and fluorocarbon line to inexpensive) to bother with that added complexity.
