Hello all.I have finally got round to using tenkara.I haven't used a western rod much this season since i got a Sato.Anyway so far i have been using Red Ice mono BMS fluorocarbon & titanium lines when very windy.I really need to buy some hi-viz fluorocarbon. What are people using & are any of them truly (hi-viz)I was thinking Sunline Buttobi but open to sugestions. Not sure about others. But I find it harder to see hi-vis lines when dull & overcast.Cheers

My favourite line is the orange sun line, I also use the yellow Yamatoyo. Sometimes the yellow Yamatoyo is easier to see depending on background and light.
Fujino tapered lines are really easy to see and have a solid colour but are heavier than fluorocarbon lines so harder to hold off the water.
I sometimes fish into the dark/very low light and have found Cortland 20lb micron backing very visible and nice to cast if there isn't too much wind, I find it better than the Fujino lines less sag. it's always best to use fluorocarbon level lines when you can. You could also attach some micron to the end of your titanium line as a sighter.

Esoteric Tackle Braid & Bead Tenkara Strike Indicators I have just received these on recommendation of Jason Klass Tenkara talk blog. I can say that so far I am very impressed. They interfere less with a level line delivery and do not appear to "show" as much over the water as my previous indicators. Service & delivery is excellent & I am not on commission .

I was ordering a tenkara rod holder from Sportfish & ordered what I thought was pink tenkarausa level line www.sportfish.co.uk/tenkara-fluorocarbon-level-line.html?___store=sportfish_main&nosto=nosto-hp-recently-viewedWhat you get is tenkara centre pink tinted fluorocarbon that's as hi-vis as clear fluorocarbon.I am sure the picture they are using is of tenkarausa product.Won't be buying anything from them again & they won't even reply to an email i sent them.Guess i will be putting in another order with esteric for fluorocarbon then.Nevet thought about using an all braid line.Cheers all

If it's a Tenkara uk product, get in touch with them direct. John Pearson and Paul of Discover Tenkara are working with them to bring the best authentic Tenkara stuff to market. Not on commission with them either! Believe they are in Japan as we blog! M

I am not aware Tenkara Centre do a pink line fluorocarbon. They might have a new supply line, but it's not omn their website. The picture on Sportfish is definitely the Tenkara USA line. I've no idea what they're are actually selling.
My Tenkara indicators were designed for the titanium line I sell. The titanium is almost totally invisible in use so you need something strong on the end to be able to see what's happening. It also knocks some of the power out of the titanium for a smoother turnover of the tippet. It seems they work okay with level lines but that wasn't their initial purpose or design intent.

Both lines i bought had tenkara centre labels on them. They are only slightly pink tinted & not very visible.I think it is a bit misleading to show a picture then sell a product completly different.Anyway have ordered some sunline from you.Your titanium leaders are great.I was using them coupled with my home made braid indicators last time home.It was gusting 35mph some days & they made fishing maneagable.Cheers all

rabmax: I've been using yellow Yamatoyo for over 4 years and consider it superb, size #3.5 is very good, as is #3. I have no problem with visibility except sometimes when looking upstream into ' grey light'. As an extra feature I incorporate 12" of hot orange above the final 12" of yellow which is an excellent indicator if you feel you need one.I don't mind the final yellow section being submerged when nymphing but keep the orange airborne.
It easily straightens and casts far far better than others I've tried. From Esoteric.
Good luck.
