Packed my ESO 410 and tried out some hill loch fishing just up from the Hotel Hebrides in Tarbert where I was staying for the week. Although the T rod was 13’6” I attached a 5’ length of 15 lb fluorocarbon to the lillian to enable me to cast a fair distance from the bank, notwithstanding the water dropped off pretty deep just a few feet from the bank. I fished a single size 12 hand tied sakasa kebari and managed to catch on average 3 fish for the hour and a bit that I fished each day. Missed loads as well. Here is a typical hard fighting Harris wild brown trout.

Beautiful fish. The dark colour we associate with fish caught high up in the peat streams here on the Isle of Man. Well done!
