Hi everyone. I have been living in the states for 15 years and returning to the UK in 2 weeks time, back to Cornwall. Got back into sea fishing about a year ago mostly surf and pier fishing but some bass fishing on a lake. Have accumulated a lot of fishing gear that my wife is mostly unaware of and will be shipping it back with me I found Tenkara by mistake surfing youtube and its another aspect of fishing that I would like to experience. I do not have any Tenkara equipment yet but hope to correct this in the next couple of weeks. Would be interested in finding places to fish Tenkara in Cornwall and maybe meet up and make new fishing friends. One of my concerns is knowing where I can fish legally and where I can't. Here in the States I need a fresh water and salt water fishing license. I know I do not need a sea fishing license in the UK but do I need any other type of fishing license? What about the legalities of fishing in rivers and streams? Any don't I should be aware of? Many thanks Cousin Jack aka Kevin

Welcome back. You will find freshwater fishing much more controlled in the UK. As for fly fishing in Cornwall The Westcountry Angling Passport westcountryangling.com/ is a good place to start. I hope this helps Richard

Kevin You will good stuff on the passport scheme as above and also plenty of useful info and contacts with in this forum. Good luck with the move. You must let us know how you keep fishing tackle hidden from your wife and go on secret fishing trips! Wonderful achievement! Glyn

Ha. Thanks everyone. I will check out the West Country passport and Mark, I may be in touch about the rules and regulations. Now I am looking for some gear. Keeping items from my wife can be difficult. Need to time the arrival of the UPS delivery truck to when she is out shopping and dispose of any evidence before she gets home.

Welcome to the forum and UK. Some online mail order companies will deliver to various 'collection points' near to your home. This practice is becoming common in the UK as many buyers are not at home during the day when deliveries are made. Just a thought. David
