The 'Enterprising Worm' looks the part, especially when jiggling about on Youtube; a few nice fish on it too.
I hope to fish the Lancaster Canal this year, mostly pole fishing for roach early in the morning. I thought I would take a tenkara rod along to cast a streamer fly to any feeding perch I might see, and also try for roach with a wet fly or nymph later in the day.
I also looked at The Intrepid Flyfisher. There were some beautiful fish caught on your trip too the Bridgewater and Taunton Canal. There was a photo of some streamer flies taken against the background of a creel lid, the french kind made with willow skeins laid flat on top of one another. Is this your's? I bid for one of these once at an auction in Dumfries, I didn't get it though so I am quite envious.

I have worked my way through the archives of these three blogs now, there's also one called Green River Journals, and like them very well. They are imaginative, entertaining, informative and practical. What more could you want from angling writing? Well worth your attention even if coarse fishing doesn't normally float your boat.

Hello Chris and thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I enjoy writing and taking pboto's to share ideas with others so it is great to get your feedback. I have had some success pursuing coarse fish on conventional fly tackle and really want to cross this over into tenkara as I think there is great potential.. I love chasing wild brownies in small streams but this type of fishing is less accessible to me on a regular basis so I have found other types of fish closer to home.. Yes the creel is mine, I picked it up for 20 quid at the redditch vintage tackle fair held every November. They had plenty to choose from. Hope to post up some catches here soon!

There has been a cluster of three good, interesting posts on this site recently. One about buying a classy Japanese rod, one about fishing for rudd and roach on the Taunton and Bridgewater Canal with it, and another about tenkara for small pike.

This blog is in my ‘Favourites’ . I eagerly await each post, especially as 99% of my ‘Tenkara’ Fishing is for coarse fish. The author of the blog, has a way with words and when reading his posts, I am immediately transported to the river/canal bank.
