Hi I am looking to get a 14 foot tenkara rod. I intend to use it mainly on the Usk and Wye. Have any of you got any suggestions? Richard

I am considering the following T rods
Tenkara Times WaterShed 400
Tenkara Centre UK Sawa 13ft to 14.9ft
Esoteric Tenkara Fishing Rod 410cm (13ft 6in) 6:4
tungsten-beads-plus Shimotsuke Kiyotaki Tenkara Rods either 13 or 15 feet
Have any of you had experience with any of these rods.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Adric I've used the Nissin Air Stage FujiRyu 6:4 410 since 2011 ordered from Plat.co.jp. Super service. Lovely rod that has a superb pedigree with Hiromichi Fuji behind it's design. Although not designated as a Honryu, or mainstream, tenkara rod, it copes admirably with big rivers and big fish. It will cast any line you like with accurate repeatable casts. The wood handle I find a thing of joy compared to cork or the newer foam handles, not everyones cup of tea, I appreciate. The quality of the fit and finish has never been bettered even by recent tenkara rod offerings, Nissin have been at this a long time and manufacture in Japan. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend it. On open days and guiding I've not had anyone from complete beginner to seasoned angler not immediately feel the difference in comparison to other rods. Whatever you decide have fun. Happy fishing. Phil

I don't have the Nissin which Phil refers to above but I agree great service from Plat.co.jp with one caveat - import duties. Be aware that customs will charge duty on anything over £15 and to add insult to injury the blxxdy Post Office will charge you £10 for the privilege of picking your import up from them. I have one Nissin rod which I really like but I pick up parts from Chris at Tenkara Bum when I'm in the States.
