New to Tenkara. Fly fished still water only so any advise welcome. I'm keen to meet up and learn. I have just had 3 weeks in Japan and looking forward to a return visit to fish in the mountains. Peter

Lucky chap having access to Japanese streams. Myself and John from Discover tenkara came back from our second period of studying and filming tenkara in Japan this spring.
It is so awesome that we can't imagine not going each year for as long as we are able :-)

I live in Cumbria and fish mainly in the Irthing and two of its tributaries, the Gelt and the King Water. I would imagine most of the fell side becks would be ok for tenkara. I hope to try the Crowdundle Beck this week before the trout season ends. I'll let you know how I get on.

I did have a go on the Crowdundle Beck at Acorn Bank on the next to last day of the trout season, mainly because I had 2 Eden Rivers Trust ''Go Wild''tokens to use up. There appears to be a good stock of fish, but it's very well wooded and generally quite awkward to fish with a casting line. I managed to catch 5 little trout up to 10 inches.
If I lived nearby I think I would try to get permission on other stretches where I could fish a bait at times if I thought it more appropriate.

Hi Chris, Happy new year to you. Not been on the forum for a while so missed your post. I hope to join Penrith anglers this year and also use the "Go Wild" scheme.
