thanks everyone who's responded.
The Poachers Pocket is not now an option as we cannot book in advance so I'll contact another venue close by.
Look forward to seeing you all - the maximum number fishing will be 9.

Don't know how much you are into ezines but we have eat sleep fish here in South west. The editor one Pete tyjas has had a very near thing with his health. It's made many of us realise that friendships made thru fishing are the most important aspect of it all. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Mark & Hils

Thanks Louis and Simon for a Really enjoyable and well organised day. Pity about the rising river but it did not spoil things too badly. It was great to see people from the forum again. The Ceiriog is a lovely stream and we must be grateful to the club for allowing us access. I agree with Mark's comments totally. Tight lines all Glyn A lovely 12" Ceiriog WBT featuring a Seth Leach Tamo!

Welsh Tenkara Social 12th Sept 2015. After many weeks of praying for rain, our wishes came true, on the wrong day! After a night of heavy rain the group of intrepid Tenkara followers met up overlooking the Aqueduct at Chirk. With heavy rain falling and the river still to react to the overnight rain hopes were high. The river Ceiriog is not a day ticket water, but the Ceiriog fly fishing club gave us access for the day, so many thanks to them. The river was divided into 4 beats with two anglers on each, with miles of water to fish on each beat the groups were dispatched. Fishing started around 10am, the rain was now starting to stop and the sky was clearing letting the sun warm the wet backs. Depending where you were and what technique you were using, seemed to affect the fishing. Upstream nymphs seemed to do well on some beats while on others they failed, likewise with dry fly, some failed completely while others managed to contact the fish. However things never go to plan! During the morning the river just about behaved itself, but as the afternoon wore on the river started to change, the top beats were the first to suffer with the river rising from .19 in the morning to .40 making the fishing nearly impossible, no more fish were caught after this. At the end of a day fishing over 50 fish were caught and returned, some doing much better than others, but that’s fishing. All retired to the pub to finish off the day before departing in various directions. Thanks first go to club for allowing us access to their waters, next thanks to Louis for arranging the day and sorting out all the maps and paperwork, and then a big thanks to everyone who made the effort to travel and make an enjoyable day. I’m sorry that I was unable to get pictures and videos of all who took part but I found it impossible to find most of you on the various beats. Simon.

Nice to see fish caught, sorry I missed it but back is in bits at the moment and wading is definitely on the list of don't do's.

Grand finale Fished the Severn yesterday at caersws. River clear and quite low. Reports from other(very friendly)bods "plenty of grayling " well not for us! and lovely fishing all the same. We will just fish this last pool! Fish rising! Not grayling! Tied on stiff hackle fly tied by John Pearson. Bang took it just below surface! Short tippett (2ft) meant fish making for tree roots thwarted. Jon beer folding net fumbled out for first time in earnest and the most beautiful fine brown trout was there to behold! Fly actually in fishes tongue. Part of me wanted to take her to eat. Luck said no! As I unhooked her in the shallows off she went! Hilary was present so at least I had a witness. Checking the WBT size chart an agreed 15-16 inch excellent meant a pb of 2.75 lb. Wet note, second waders leak through backside! Penguin walk back to car, kelly kettle and cuppa! M&h

Thanks to everyone for a great social day. Special thanks to Louis & Simon for the organisation and, of course, to Ceiriog Fly Fishers for access to the river.
