I spent a day at Gargrave to Broughton on the river Aire, one of Bradford City AA waters. Started around 0930 at the bottom of the stretch, and worked upstream to the crossover point with Tenkara, changed fly a few times, mostly nymphs as the water was very clear and a little low, and being a bright sunny day with just a gentle breeze, I thought the fish would be deep After 3 hours with not even seeing a fish it was back to the car for a bite to eat and a cuppa. Then drove up to the top in Gargrave village, and set up the standard rod with a couple of spiders, nothing doing, so back on the nymphs to get in the deep holes. Again never saw a fish. One of the other guys there reported a good Grayling to 16 inch and a Brownie to 2 lbs. That was it, and I finally gave up about 1700 and did as all should, head for the pub for a meal and soft drink, then off to Leeds FDG for the AGM, got back home around 2300 and crashed out till 0800 when the blokes painting the soffits woke me. Disappointed on the first day? No, a great day, walked about 4 miles in of North Yorkshire with good scenery, plenty of birds to listen to, saw the newborn lambs, had a good natter with the few guys I met on the bank. What's not to like?

Sorry to hear of your illness, get well soon and then get out there, I'm sure some obliging trout will wait for you.
