Yet again strong winds, and this morning snow instead of the almost constant rain. I've not been out for over a week now to my river, I must be getting soft. At one time it didn't matter, but now, well it's a different story. The Grayling are there, ready and waiting for my tasty offerings, but then again so are the trout, and we can soon be catching them with a purpose.
Must think back to last year when the trout were rising and the river level was stable for a few weeks, the flies were hatching and I was waving my Tenkara rod around for the first time, not knowing why or what the style of fishing was about but still catching. This year I've got a lot more info, had a couple of days with people who know how to use the 'T' rod. I've had plenty of practice catching Grayling with it, and losing them, so it's maybe not as bleak as I'm making out. Roll on summer.

Be patient my friend it will come good for sure ...... Total frustration I know but if you cannot influence it then no point in getting anxious about it. Colder and drier weather on the way. Glyn

If the all-ruling Power please We live to see another May, W'ell recompense an age of these Foul days in one fine fishing day:
A day without too bright a beam, A warm, but not a scorching sun, A southern gale to curl the stream, And, Master! half our work is done.
There whilst behind some bush we wait The scaly people to betray, We'll prove it just with treach'rous bait To make the preying trout our prey.
C. Cotton.
