Moves well for a guy in his mid 60s!
See how he changes where he is standing in order to create the angles to turn the fish (combined with changing the angle of side strain with the rod).

Hi Paul
Thanks for posting this video.
I intended to do the same with an emphasis on the 'thinking angler' which Masami epitomises.
From start to finish Masami remains aware of what the fish is doing and reponds appropriately, patiently and with care. He never loses his wider awareness of his immediate environment while thinking about what he will do. At 1:53 he decides precisely where he will bring the fish to hand and does so quickly. From there he walks deliberately to a quiet area to keep the fish in calm water while pictures are taken.
A lovely example for us all of what we might call, to the borrow the football analogy, 'total tenkara'.
Wonderful stuff from Tenkara-no-Oni.
Happy tenkara.
Phil

I was interested to see that his friend hands him a little folding tamo similar to the ones I was mentioning in an earlier post. After scratching my head over where to attach a lanyard, I settled, like him, on clipping it to the frame. Why didn't they(Shimano and Daiwa) add in a hole or clip on the end of the handle? I thought it might be because Japanese anglers laughed at such precautions!
