As stated in DT website this looks excellent and a fun but very practical project and from the pictures you have done a good job on the rod and bag. Good luck with this when you try it out on stream. We look forward to hearing about the baptism! Tight lines and thanks Glyn

An interesting project Paul, I think we all like the chance to go back in time to make tackle/flies etc in the old style. No reason why the rod won't work but I imagine you need some careful tapering to achieve a sympathetic top. Look forward to your findings.
This is actually similar to that walking stick/rod I posted about Bala.

A bamboo rod really reminds me of my first steps into the world of fishing. Fishing with a garden cane cotton and a bent pin with a worm for bait and catching sticklebacks. Happy days.
