Hi guys I have a project that some people might be interested in. The other day I was fishing a near pristine stream in Herefordshire and managed to catch some trout with a distinctive spot pattern. They were quite different from the fish from the Monnow system. My project is to try and document the spot patterns of the brown tout I catch and see how they vary between different river systems. One problem I have is the best and most effective way to photograph the fish without causing too much stress to the fish. I usually end up standing waist deep in the stream with my rod in one hand and fish in the other. Any ideas would be great. Richard

That's how I do it. Alternatively use a waterproof compact with macro facility & photo the fish underwater whilst holding them.

nice idea Richard, presume you'll include the Usk and others. Should a pic of typical Dee trout be useful, let me know and I'll send one.
Cheers,
