Fishing in brooks and streams in the Peak District and Derbyshire i actually need a shorter rod. 7 - 8 ft in length. Is there any out there ? There is a river in Sheffield centre that is only 6ft wide in places but has a good stock of WBT, my 360cm rods are usless under the canopies of the trees . Help please...

You will find that Tungsten beads uk has some rods branded as Tanago in shorter lengths. I have a 10' from there and it is smashing tool and good value. Good luck Glyn

Have you tried collapsing a section? Side casting up and down steam? Bow and arrow cast style? These are just a few of the things I do when the fishing is "tight"

I was going to post later, but,as I was visiting Sheffield, I have just had a day on the urban Don and a heavily wooded tributary, guided by John Pearson of Discover Tenkara. On the Don, I used my Iwana (12 ft). On the tributary JP lent me a Rhodo, which zooms from just under 9' to just under 11'. We mostly had it at full length but in tight spots reduced the rod, but left the line unchanged at about 11'. I am as cack-handed as anyone, but with his advice and those rods, I was able to fish with some confidence and much enjoyment. My lack of skills was the only impediment, and they were rather better by the end of the day. In short, if I lived in the Sheffield area, I'd say a day with John on those rivers was a no-brainer! And a Rhodo is on my Christmas list...

UK Tenkara centre have a 8 foot which I use regularly on small brooks in Hereford with a lot of success. The tree canopy can be very extreme. The also sell a 6 foot model.
I hope that this helps.
