Used my tenkara rod on test yesterday and was broken off no less than 4 times! Started with 3lb& 4lb tippet then switched to 6lb. Not sure what happened. Two were at the business end,the last just before the surgeons loop. All occurred at the point in time when net was about to be used. The fishes were all close to the bank . The fish were in the 2lb mark. Was I rushing things? Going again in August ! Any help very much appreciated

What tippet material were you using? In the past I've had spools of fluorocarbon that I've had to throw away because they seemed to snap for no good reason at all. Nylon deteriorates over time so if this was an older spool of nylon it might have reached the end of it's life.
That's the equipment blamed, now of course it could be angler error! Keeping a good angle between the rod and line will allow the flex of the rod to do it's work and protect the tippet. If everything goes straight then the chances of a breakage are much, much higher. Try to deflect the swim direction of the fish with side pressure. Keep knocking it off balance and it ill tire quicker. You may already know this, but it's worth restating now and again for other readers.

Go for fresh tippet material and practice the Palomar knot for the fly (and its modified version for attaching tippet to casting line stopper knot). You can see both in this video:
Then, if you are hand-lining, make sure that you are ready to allow line to slip between your fingers when the fish thrashes or runs.

2nd very poor day due to combined factors! Mostly human ie me! Came home very disillusioned with whole fishing thing, ready to sell up & take up golf! However , several offers of help from river keepers & good friend AND then! Went to my local river to forage for peas & for maybe 15 mins fished favourite pool with kebari fly from orange otter & then a good size grayling took the fly! All thoughts of selling up cancelled, looking forward to tenkara tuition on usk at crickhowell with sportfisj on 8/9/14. Some places left pm me if interested
