Chasing the 'BIG' one on the East Dart River. Had a few days down in Devon last week. I mostly fished on the moor itself on the East Dart River and Walla Brook but a couple of days on the urban West Okement and Tavy increased the average size of fish caught and landed considerably. I stayed in Postbridge at the East Dart Hotel, a modest pub with a few rooms, all ensuite, for a very modest price, owners were welcoming and a substantial breakfast saw me through the day. The East Dart is about 100 metres from the front door of the pub and so was my start or finish point on most days. The area around the road bridge and the clapper bridge produced the most fish but usually in the 3 to 4 inch range. However, there is a nice bit of pocket water close to the road where the 'BIG' one hides. On 3 separate occasions I managed to hook the beast but failed to land it, so before breakfast on the morning I left for home I decided to have one last try. Thirty minutes on the river produced 6 WBT and I'm pleased to say including the 'BIG' one. Of course I didn't take my camera as it was already packed away but that brute came out of the water and devoured my Klinkhammer like it was the best thing he had seen in weeks. Yep the 'BIG' one was all of 10 inches but a thrill to catch. A fabulous week in Devon and I will probably go back again next year to see how large he has grown. Attachment Deleted

Hello Gents, I'm heading to Dartmoor at the end of June for a few days fishing by a fluke I'm also booked in at the East Dart hotel. I was wondering where the best Tenkara water is up or downstream of the hotel?

Hello Gents, I'm heading to Dartmoor at the end of June for a few days fishing by a fluke I'm also booked in at the East Dart hotel. I was wondering where the best Tenkara water is up or downstream of the hotel? I just got back from Devon last week, great trip, but more on that later. in answer to your question above I would say upstream is better T rod fishing. However, don't ignore the area by the Bridge, in spite of the number of tourist on and near the clapper bridge there are plenty of fish between the two bridges and immediately downstream of the clapper bridge.
