Fished the Blackwater for a couple of hours today. It's the river west of Garve. Olives started coming off early afternoon to add to the odd sedge. Best fish was just over the pound, another just under, plus a couple smaller, a pleasant surprise as was only expecting small stuff. A lot of T water but I could have been lucky with height. I can imagine it getting tricky finding fish at summer levels. Watch out wading as a lot of boulders with deep channels between. Phoned hotel to check permission but they just said it was open fishing - what a bargain and loads of water to explore.
if you are ever heading west towards Ullapool it is worth stopping for a cast. I fished up and down stream of the road bridge 1mile west of Garve.
