Yesterday and today I had a few hours on some beautiful Yorkshire Dales water.
Pure Tenkara (Kebari & Seth Tamo) on the Swale was fun but I didn't manage to connect with any of the inhabitants. Hardly surprising, on the way to the River, just before Richmond, I passed 2 anglers getting ready to fish. I reversed the car to have a chat. They gave me some advice and when I told them I was heading for Lownthwiate Bridge they looked at each other and said "Aye pretty up there but trout are few and far between" paused for a moment and added "but some nice ones have been landed in the past"
Actually there was a hatch going on after I had been there an hour or so and I saw fish rising both on the flat section and the riffles. I thought of putting on a dry or gooping up my Kebari but decided not too in the end. A pleasant few hours on a beautiful river.

I then went to Aysgarth where my daughter has a cottage. The cottage comes with fishing rights so I thought it was time to exercise those rights. I had just 20 minutes to play before we needed to be somewhere else and rather than continue with the Kebari and also because of the depth of the water went with 2 nymphs. Nineteen minutes later I landed my first fish of the day. Nissin Rod & silver bead head nymph. Incidentally there was also a fish or two rising on the far bank, but of course out of reach.
