May I introduce Tenkara Days as another web resource. It will, I hope, be a positive addition to the already established sites and seeks to compliment our joint adventures in tenkara. As always, you feedback is most welcome. Perhaps of note, I have a source of exclusive high quality Japanese cloth, from which I can make custom drawstring rod bags/socks. I have a new stock of cloth not pictured on the site at the moment but an image will be forthcoming soon. Tight lines folks. Phil

Waiting for o2 to finally connect my internet so loaded site on slow connection so frustrating. Need to practice patience. Can't wait to further explore your site. Excellent! A question that keeps re occurring .why are you all "in the north"? I spend hours tenkara fishing alone which is vey healing and would love to share and learn from others. Limited funds means journey + Accomodation + course too difficult. There seems to be little appetite for anything different in the three clubs I belong to.!if you "fly south" can provide plenty of water! Mark

Good stuff! Keep up the good work.
Why are we all in the north? It's because the word has been effectively spread through the north, particularly Yorkshire. I've certainly been responsible for some of this, having introduced Stu Crofts, Stu Wardle & many others to Tenkara & they have passed it on to many more. I've always been of the opinion that good things should be shared.
People who haven't tried or seen Tenkara will always be resistant to change. I've just been trying the Italian Style of casting & that too will be slow to take off I suspect (slower than Tenkara since it is technically more difficult), but like Tenkara it has a lot of potential for good presentation.
I've passed on my enthusiasm for Tenkara to several members of the Grayling Society who live in the deep south & I'm sure Tenkara will soon take of in your part of the world.

Thank you Marcouns and daves for the feedback.
I can testify to daves being an enthusiastic tenkara advocate as well as many others I have met who seem to hail from the North and like daves think good things ought to be shared.
Whereabouts do you live marcouns?

Well, there's a happy conincidence, my dad lives in Dunkeswell, near Honiton and Wellington of course. I'll be down there in early September. If I can get some free time it would be great to hook up for a spot of tenkara on any of those rivers.
I'll keep you posted of my plans if you like.
Cheers
Phil

Marcouns Try hopping over the Severn bridge and fish some of the South Wales rivers - there is some good fishing to be had. I am in Worcestershire ( not every Tenkara nut is up North!!) but nipping down to the lower end of the Wye/Usk catchments is not too far in terms of time. Not sure how far you are from the Severn bridge - is Wellington near Taunton? Cheers Glyn
