Drawn blanks on all my trips out river in spate etc AND however many times I visit "my" river I find something new. Today I found a bridge crossing a tributary leading to my favourite grayling spot! On another theme I rarely see any videos on fishing tenkara from bank. It's the only safe place when tone in spate. Is it the same as in the river?

There's quite a bit of footage out there of tenkara anglers fishing from the bank.
As for fishing from the banks in a spate... One key thing to remember is, fishing from the bank is not that different from fishing in a large river. That means focusing on the areas within range that you can effectively reach and ignoring (or at least spending minimal time on) the "fools gold" of the tantalizing spots that are just too far away to fish effectively. What constitutes "in range" varies depending on your setup and skill level.
Bear in mind that grayling are far less tolerant of presentations going across currents but are suckers for flies moving upward in the water column. In a spate try to concentrate on the softer water closest to your bank... if that means ignoring your usual favourite spots then so be it... keep moving and find a good spot you can actually fish.
I've caught some good numbers of fish fishing this way but it takes a bit of discipline and quite a high work rate; it's quite hard to ignore spots where you've caught in the past but if you stick to offering poor presentations reaching across an angry spate you'll not catch many at all.
What constitutes a good spot for grayling in a spate could fill a book. It's really a case of spending time on the river and learning where the fish go when the levels are up.
