First outing with new tenkara rod from tbum in America So relaxed fished past 6 nations kick off! Accessed parts of river that would be impossible with even 6ft brook rod. No catch but very calming

I think your rod should be positioned a bit higher up...at least at a 45 degree angle. You have it parallel to the river...you want as much line off the water as you can comfortably manage...so you need to get the rod tip up. Also you have your arm extended quite a bit especially in the first photo...you might find this a bit tiring after a while so tuck your elbow in at your side or at least a nice bend in your elbow. Hope you catch a fish soon.

Do you know if any other anglers are catching much? It could just be that it a difficult winter river. Grayling, where they only exist in moderate numbers can be extremely hard to find in the depths of winter. I usually fish such a river, the Irthing, and until recent years I had never caught more than two on a winter's day. I generally do a bit better now. As an example, on my last outing I managed to get four,in quick time, all from one spot, and then could not find any more. If I had not dropped on those few, it would have been a blank, as was my previous day.

great day out at flyfishing fair roadford lake yesterday,eating lunch outside. today went on river coloured after 3/4 hr rain yesterday AND bitterly cold.

23/4/13 Fished am on dry fly without seeing any rise! 30 mins to go b4 I need to go to work changed to what's either killer bug or Utah killer bug from tenkara bum & hey presto grayling . Quickly returned as in breeding season

5/5/3 Two long spells on tone. Wind difficult. Changed leader to put on p tail nymph . Nout! 2nd spell alternating trad rod 2wt silk line dry and ten jars with p tail nymph . A couple of rise covered but not interested in my offerings
