:)from martfish. hello i am new to this forum and i have just started net building a few mounths ago i have had a few problems spliceing the net arms together and i had the idea of making the net hope and handle separate.after a failed attempt at spliceing i cut the two branches off at the handle and drilled two holes one on either side of handle.on finding a suitable hollie branch it was shaped and pushed in to either side of the handle and then glued. does any body know anywhere i can get net mesh from. see you soon martfish

For mesh you could try using some net curtain, seems like it would do the job. Simon made some lovely nets uk-tenkara.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nets&action=display&thread=148&page=1I think he may have used replacement nets designed for regular trout nets ? I recently modified my own trout net to use a flat netting which makes releasing trout far less of a fuss. I did this after watching Tenkaraman on youtube and seeing how effective his C&R method was. I'd like to make my own net, maybe this season My modified net in action:

I have used the net bag from an aquarist's net before (if it is kind enough for koi carp - it is kind enough for trout ) I got mine from Sheffield aquatics on Langsett Road (google will get you the phone number). The thread I used to knot the mesh onto the frame with is called "micro macrame" thread and you can buy it online from craft suppliers. Tenkara USA site has a video showing you how to make the traditional knots if you need that info too. My net and knots:
