As a complete novice to Tenkara fishing (25+yrs Western FF on streams) I would like some advice on rods.
The streams I have in mind are narrow (you can easily jump across them) and contain the usual Coarse Fish with some very large chub amongst them. The fish take a fly with gusto and my largest Chub is 4lb taken on a 16s Knotted Midge. Is there a T rod that is suitable for fish of this size? The waters are relatively free of snags but the banks are undercut.

Thanks Paul 1966. You seem to get a lot for your money. I'm busy writing a letter to Santa.

Frithy I have the Eso 410 and I am really pleased with it but as Paul says a shorter one might be more suitable. Handles good fish comfortably - if you are careful. Hope Santa brings what you want mate! Leave him/her a clear note and ask for some furled leaders also. Try Simon's versions - super. Flatsghost

Have you considered a Daiwa Kiyose? It has a nice soft tip but has plenty of power when you need it. I have got a Nissin Zoom rod that is reasonably powerful too, I am yet to put it to test on 2-3lb chub though but I have caught chub up to 1lb and it handled them fine. The other advantage of the Nissin is that it zooms. Mine locks at 2.8m and 3.3m, just perfect for small to mid sized brooks. If you are thinking of buying something like the Nissin give me a shout. I am sorting some orders for myself at the moment and may be able to help.

Thanks Bakelit.
It'll be in the New Year when I buy (money needed for roof repairs)
The stream I have in mind can be jumped over in places (if you're that way inclined LOL) and contains some large Chub. My best is a 4lb on a 16s Knotted Midge. I don't know who was more surprised, me or the fish (I was using a 6ft #2).
